There is nothing better than a beautiful day and a nice glass of rose on a rooftop!
I recently hosted an event with some of my industry colleagues at Ivy Terrace in NYC. We welcomed summer high in the sky against the backdrop of New York City.
Ivy Terrace is a new spot in New York City which is fantastic for an intimate event of any kind. The lovely terrace inspired me to host a kick off to summer cocktail party! Here I am below with my fellow hosts. Adam Leffel of Adam Leffel Productions designed all the gorgeous decor. Ceci Johnson of Ceci NY created the custom invitation that set the tone for our "rose" mood and her designs were carried throughout the decor and tabletop. David Waterman of Total Entertainment provided all the entertainment. Marc Weber, owner of On The Marc Catering hosted us at Ivy Terrace and provided all the delicious food and creative cocktails. JNSQ provided all the delicious rose! Behind the lens is Andre Maier who took all the beautiful photos for the evening. We welcomed friends and colleagues to a summer soiree with NYC as our backdrop.
I love outdoor entertaining but summer in the city takes on a new meaning. It's quite surreal to sip a glass of rose with iconic buildings and landmarks all around you.
Check out the beautiful event we had and scroll below for some other options to have cocktails or a soiree at other rooftop venues in the big apple! Ivy Terrace is only open for private events, but we have some suggestions below for other rooftop options for cocktails "in the city".
Adam Leffel of Adam Leffel Productions created all the gorgeous decor. His decor inspiration set the tone for the whole evening and all the decor. We love all the details and beautiful furnishings from Highstyle Rentals, BBJ linens CB2 as well.
Guests were invited with a beautiful invitation custom designed by Ceci New York to set the tone and mood of our "rose''" themed event.
Ceci creates the most gorgeous invitations. Her floral designs are exquisite! All her work is custom created and begins with Ceci's own hand painted designs. She also made coordinating menu cards for the On the Marc menu. Everything was just perfect! Ceci looks gorgeous in her coordinating look as she helps with all the finishing touches!
The tabletop was exquisite with Adam's design and Ceci's custom touches. We also had the custom "mini" cakes from Lulu's Bakery. The tabletop was adorned with these beautiful chargers from Mozaiko and the table setting was perfect with our dishes and flatware from The Tabletop Company.
Lulu's created these custom cakes for us. Not only are they beautiful but delicious! Guests' love getting their own cakes!
Anyone who knows me -knows I can't live without music in the background at all times! It plays while I write, while I email, while I walk down the street... I am never without. I also like different things but the selection of what I want to hear depends on the location, mood and time of day. I created a "Summer in the City" playlist with David Waterman of Total Entertainment. You can find our playlist on Tidal. I have created lots of various playlist for different entertaining moods. Check it out!
Music flowed throughout the night with a DJ provided by Total Entertainment and their newest live band.
Behind the lens is Andre Maier. He captured the whole evening on film and is the talent behind all these gorgeous photos. Adam and I were able to get him on the other side of the lens for once!
Ivy Terrace is available for booking private parties. If you re interested just give a shout out to Joy Locke. She'll handle all the details if you love this view and want to host your event there!
Guest sipped cocktails and enjoyed music on the terrace. It was the most gorgeous night for a party!
So many friends came to enjoy the evening.
Decorator extraordinary, David Beahm stopped by so I could get a little hug!
Many thanks to David Waterman and Marc Jason for providing the entertainment form Total Entertainment for the evening!
Everyone is full of smiles especially, Twah Doughtery.
These ladies are always good for a little catch up and laugh!
If you love the idea of summer on a terrace but not planning on an actual soiree but are looking for light bites and al fresco dining or just meet friends for cocktails here are a few choices that I recommend for you.
In Midtown manhattan you can sip a cocktail and have a bite with views of the Empire State Building at The Skylark. I actually hosted my own birthday party here a few years back, unfortunatley my birthday is not in a warm month but the lounge is wonderful as well!
It really doesnt get more iconic than a drink at the top of the Rainbow Room in Rockefeller Center at Bar Sixty Five. Reservations are highly recommended as they are often closed for private events. The view is spectacular and it does without saying that sunset there is breathtaking. They have light bites to order on the menu and there is a minimum spend at times. Please check for availability and info before arriving as it is a busy spot!!
Downtown tucked away in Chelsea you will encounter Gallow Green. If you have ever heard of the show "Sleep No More" you might be familiar with the space. In the summer the rooftop is decorated a combination of garden party meets farmhouse. While you view the NYC skyline and Hudson River, you do feel you have been transported to the Scottish countryside at the same time.
The new Moxy Hotel in Chelsea's flower district has a cocktail lounge high atop the hotel called The Fleur Room. While it is not outdoors it DOES have sweeping views of the city from The Empire State Building to The Statue of Liberty- one can see clearly. It has such a chic botanical themed decor and walls and walls of windows so there is still quite a view from "inside".
Hope your summer is as sweet as these delicious treats we gave to all the departing guest at our event. These delicious Italian almonds form Confetti Milano come in so many assorted flavors.
Cheers and happy summer!
Hope you have a fabulous first week of summer!!
